Shelden Studio is owned by Dennis and Shellie Carder and based
in Grand Island, New York. That is north of Buffalo and south
of Niagara Falls. |
The real talent behind Shelden
Studio is Shellie, sometimes known as "Red" |
Shellie became interested
in glass sculpture while attending FIT. She then attended Canisius
Collage in Buffalo where she majored in chemistry. By combining
these two areas she the began fusing glass. |
She was looking for a way
to display her creations when she was told about William Holland
School for Lapidary Arts in Young Harris, Georgia. Not only did
this school teach her the basics of wire wrap, it gave her a
new love. Lapidary arts. The results of this new love are displayed
on our web pages. |
Shelden Studio now display
at many Gem and Mineral shows and Arts and Craft shows in New
York and Ohio. She still finds time to teach glass sculpture,
fusing, and dichroic bead making at William Holland. |
Her husband Dennis retired
from the US Army and now teaches JROTC at Kensington High School
in Buffalo. He also maintains the web site and coordinates questions
and answers while she in on the road. |
